Boys Camping Trip

Mike, Jason, and Grandpa Schwitzer headed up to Crystal Lake to have some guy time.  I wasn't at this trip but, they had the best time.  They caught probably 80 fish while on this trip and enjoyed being in the outdoors together.
 They camped at Crystal Lake

Another view of the camp site.
Jason caught a very rare fish up in the Uintas  He caught an Arctic Grayling!  All the men were super proud of his catch!  Very cool Jay!

This Is The Place

While the boys were on their camping trip the girl's had a girl's weekend!  We went shopping, out to eat, watched movies together, and spent the day up at This is the Place.  I have not been here in years and it was so much fun to go again and learn about the people that settled the Salt Lake Valley.  The girls got to make pioneer dolls in the pic above.
We went to pioneer school and they put Anne in time out!  She volunteered to demonstrate.  They would have to stand in the corner with their hands out like Anne's.  If they were really bad the teacher would put a book on their hands and they would have to stand there for a while.
A Indian Mud house.  This was actually really well made and was nice and cool inside.  The girls also got to make some Indian Jewelry.  We walked in many homes and learned how the Pioneers lived. We even got some nice cool ice cream to end our trip.  It was a fun day and we loved having Grandma Young there with us!

The Zoo

We went to the Zoo with Grandma, Auntie Jessica and kids.  It was the perfect day to go because it had cooled down and was a little rainy.  It ended up being the perfect day to go the Zoo.  The animals were all out and active because it was so much cooler.

Always have to stop to get this picture!
I never see the Tigers while at the zoo but, they were out today!  Check out this picture of this Tiger just staring at the kids.  It was crazy to be that close to the Tigers!
We always end our visit with a carousel ride.  We had a fun afternoon with cousins and the animals!

Rose Canyon 1st Ward Camp

Our ward camp was up at Aspen Lakes this year and it was so much fun.  Aspen Lakes is run by the church and we had access to climbing walls, canoeing, a zip line over the lake, ropes course, and volleyball area.  We ate dinner the first night as a ward and had a huge camp fire after.  Bishop gave a thought and then we roasted marshmallows and made smores.  The kids had a blast running around with their friends in the ward.  I didn't see Jason the whole time, he loved hanging with his friends!  The next morning we made pancakes and went out and had some fun!
 Canoeing on the lake.
I nicknamed Jason Tom Sawyer on this trip because he was loving all of this.
 Jason on the Zip Line
 Anne on the zip line
Mike on the Zip Line and I did it too but, no picture was taken of me.  It was actually really fun jumping off that thing into the water!
The kids enjoyed making sand castles in the sand.
Tom Sawyer himself loving the outdoors and being with his friends.  It was just one night but, a good one night spent with the ward.

Pioneer Day

In the morning, we headed to the Days of '47  parade in Downtown SLC.  I love going to the parade each year!  After the parade we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Youngs and went swimming up at the Cottonwood Spa.
After swimming, the rest of the cousins came and we had the traditional Young Family water fight!  The kids had a blast with their uncles.

Auntie Erin brought some pioneer dresses for the girls to dress up in.  They loved it!
The boys decided to dress up in their cowboy hats!
We had a BBQ and then later in the evening headed up to Brighton High to watch the Cottonwood Heights fireworks.  It was so fun to be with family all day and enjoy this great state of Utah.

SLC Cemetery FHE

The Monday before Pioneer day we decided to head up to the SLC Cemetery and see all the prophets graves.  This was such a neat evening and Mike did such a great job finding stories about each of the prophets when they were young kids.  The picture above is the grave of Truman O Angell.  We are related him to him through Dad's line on the Spiers line.  Truman was the architect of the SLC Temple, eagle gate, the Lion House, and Beehive House just to name a few.  He came across the plains and was one of the first to enter the Salt Lake Valley.
Joseph F. Smith and Joseph Fielding Smith's graves.

 Wilford Woodruff
The kids loved the stories that Mike found.  Here is Lucy listening about Porter Rockwell.

The views up at the cemetery are amazing.  Have I mentioned how much I love living here?!

 Heber J Grant.
 John Taylor
President Hinckley will always hold a special place for Mike and I.  He was the prophet that called us both on missions.  How I love this man!
Showing kids pictures of President McKay as a little boy.
President Hunters grave I loved.  I loved the quote on his head stone.
I took way to many pictures for a cemetery but, the lighting was awesome!
Eliza slipped in some mud and she was not very happy.  She was sour grapes for a little while but, soon got over it when we mentioned going to get some ice cream!
 President Kimball
Our last stop was to visit my Great Grandma Linnea's grave.  Anne and I are both named after her and she was a wonderful woman.  She died when she was my age leaving all her little children with no mother but, her legacy lives on.  Anne and I are proud to carry her name.

It was a great night and we had fun learning about all our wonderful prophets and ancestors!!

Summer Moments

Lucy got a hold of my phone and took a selfie.  I love it!  Lucy and freckles!
Grandma Young met us at Gardner Village.  She bought each of the girls a fairy to go with their fairy chairs they made.
 Summer can be exhausting!
We went up to Brighton and had a Young family cook out for Family Sunday in July.  Lucy found these beautiful wild flowers.
One afternoon Anne and I made homemade apricot jam.  We picked the apricots from Grandma and Grandpa Youngs and then made some yummy jam.  Anne was the perfect helper!
