St. George Day 2

We had a relaxing morning and then headed out to go see the Jacob Hamlin house.  This was a great tour and we learned a lot about those that saints that settled the St. George area.  We then went and got some lunch to take with us up Snow Canyon.
We went on 3 hikes in Snow Canyon and it was a perfect day.   It was overcast and little more cooler but, great hiking weather.
We hiked to this small slot canyon.  I had never been in a slot canyon before so, I thought this was pretty neat.

This is Lucy's way of hiking...getting a ride on Dad's shoulders!
We stopped here and ate Lunch on this big rock.  It felt like we were the only people in the canyon.   It was so beautiful!
The girl's loved this little rock cave and thought it would make a great house!
The last hike was to see these Pioneer names that are written up on some walls in the canyon.  Jason and Mike wanted to get a closer look.

After Snow Canyon we went out to dinner at the Olive Garden.  We then went back to the hotel and went swimming again.  It started raining while we were swimming so, we came in.  We watched a movie and went to bed.  We had such a fun time as a family and it was a great winter break.  I love St. George and I am glad we have a place to get  away from the winter blah up here in Herriman.

Saint George Trip Day 1

We were off track the end of January and it was so cold here in Herriman.  Mike had to go down to St. George to do some work so, we talked him into letting us come with him to catch some warmer weather.  It was so nice down there and it felt good to be outside without getting bundled up!  The first day Mike had to go to appointments in the morning.  So, the rest of us went shopping around St.George and then we picked up Mike for Lunch.  One of his costumers told us of this cool park so, we got some McDonald's and headed to play outside.
These kids have the best Dad.  He is always playing and having a good time with them.  Mike had another conference call he had to be on so, the kids and I played some more at the park.  We went for a little walk and then played tag, and duck, duck, goose together.  It was so fun to run around and not worry about snow!

When Mike was done with his conference call we headed over to Pioneer Park to enjoy all the red rock.  This was so much fun and the kids had a blast!

It was so beautiful there and I couldn't help but, love the red sand with the contrast of the green/blue sage brush.

After we went swimming at the hotel pool.  It was a heated pool and it was so nice.  The kids loved this and played for a while.  By, the time we were done with all of this the kids were so tired.  We took baths, ordered in dinner, and the kids fell asleep watching watching a movie.  It was a fun day!

Happy 11th Birthday Jason

Jason hit the big 11!  Mike and I were just talking about how much we love this age.  He loves hanging out with us still and we can have good conversations with him.  He listens to us and agrees with everything we say!!  I know it sounds crazy but, we know in a couple of years we might not be so cool to him.  I hope we always have the great relationship that we do with him.  Jason we love your fun personality and you always have a funny joke to tell us at dinner.  I love that you still let me read to you  and sometimes still let me comb your hair! Ha Ha!  You have a strong testimony and love learning about the gospel.  I love watching you play out in the back yard.  You can do anything from golf, to football, Soccer, to basketball, and running.  We could not ask for a more perfect son for us!
The biggest blessing about our new home is our backyard.  Jason loves it and no matter the time of year he will be out there doing something.  During the winter he shovels the snow off the basketball court so, he can play even in the winter!

We went out to lunch to Red Robin and then went to watch Jay play a Basketball game.
In the evening we had Grandma and Grandpa Young and Schwitzer over for his birthday dinner.  He chose Chili as his chose of meal.  HIs gifts this year were his new scout shirt.
Looking through the new scout book and he is on the path to Eagle!
A new sleeping bag to take camping.  This one will help keep the cold out!
The fishing pole and line he wanted.  He has the fishing bug like his Dad!
Happy Birthday Jason!  I hope your birthday wish comes true!

For the Love of Fishing

So, I married a guy who loves to fish among many other things.  Over the past couple of years, though, he had forgotten that he loved it.  He was put as Young Men's President and was put out in the outdoors again. He started remembered how much he loved this sport.  So, for the past couple of months ,we have been talking about fishing...the best spots to fish, what kind of line is the best, how many fish he wants to catch, different kinds of flies.  I have loved hearing him talk about fishing.  So, I said that I thought it would be fun to go with him and the next thing I knew he went and bought me waders!  I am actually really excited and hope we can sneak away together on some fishing dates!
So, the waders already came in handy this month when Anne and I went to a mother/daughter activity.  We were suppose to dress up and we chose to dress up as fisher girls.  It was a fun activity and I loved hanging out with Anne for an evening.
Mike learned his skills from Grandpa Schwitzer.  They found some time to go fish the Provo River.  They had a great time together.  I think that is what I love most about fishing is the people it brings together!

Junior Jazz Basketball

This year we had both Jason and Anne playing basketball.  Our Saturdays got a little crazy but, it was so fun to watch these kids play.  This was Anne's first year playing and she got to be coached by Uncle Tom!  He is the best coach and Anne enjoyed playing with Evelyn also.  Anne tried this sport but, has informed me that she probably doesn't want to play again next year.  I was really proud of her willingness to try something new.  It got her out running and exercising this winter though!

The best coach around Uncle Tom!
Jason had an awesome season this year.  He was the point guard for his team and he did a great job setting up plays for his team.
He was the best dribbler on the team!
Bringing the ball down to the team.
Jason has awesome defense too!  Jason's age group was super fun to watch!  Good job kids at being active!!
