Waco, Texas Trip

I took Eliza and Lucy to Waco, Texas to visit Ryan and his family.  I have never been to Texas before so this was a new experience for us.  Our first stop was to Bucc-ees to check out this famous gas station and try some of their yummy treats.
The next morning we headed over to Magnolia to experience all the fun stuff there and eat at Magnolia table for breakfast... it was soooo good!

The next day we visited a little place called the homestead.  The girls made some little pottery baskets and we ate at a yummy restaurant there too.  It was a beautiful place.

The rest of the time was spent catching up with the Ryan Young family.  Lots of Mike riding down their street and playing games.  Sydney and Eliza decided to repaint their place house.  We watched movies, went to parks, work on flower pots for their yard and just enjoyed being together.

On Sunday we headed back to Austin to catch our flight and have dinner with my cousin Allie and her family.  On our way out we took pictures with the beautiful blue bonnet flowers and stopped to see Lake Waco.  I am so grateful for Ryan and Erin and the chance we had to see their life over in Texas.  They have a great home and life there!

Teenage Driving

Jason turned 16 back in January, but we told him he could not get his license until he had gotten his Eagle Scout Award.  He finally did that so, we took him to get his license.  He passed his driving test and was good to go!
We found him this little Ford Focus and he was super excited to get this smaller car to drive around and have available to him.
The car latest one day when Jason was in an accident.  It was an accident, but a very scary situation and it really shook up all involved.  Luckily Mike was in the car with him to help him through it.  Anne was in the back seat and was very scared and upset after it.  I have to say that angels watched over my family that day.  No one was hurt in any way and they all came out of it okay.  A little emotional hurt, but that is all.  I am grateful that we just lost this car and nothing else.  So begins letting apron strings go and letting your kids go through some hard things.  Lots of lessons were learned that day and Jason has gotten better and more confident with driving after that accident.  We moved on, got another little car for the kids, and have never looked back.

Spring Break Kids Camp

We decided to hang around home for spring break this year.  The girls decided to earn a little money and did a kids camp the week of spring break.  They did such a great job!  They had different themes for each of the days and had games, crafts, and treats planned for those kids.  It was a huge hit and lots of mom's loved having a little break each morning.  The girls earned some great money to put into savings!

Eliza's First Temple Trip

It was a neat evening to get these three kids to the Gilbert Temple.  It was Eliza's first time to do baptisms and she had her two older siblings show her the ropes.  It was also Jason's first time baptizing at the temple.  It was a special experience to have him baptize us.  I always feel the spirit so strong while doing baptisms for the dead.  I feel like those on the other side have been waiting for so long and getting the first step of baptism is an important one.  I always feel like the veil is very thin there.  Grateful for these good kids and their willingness to serve in the temple.

Young Women Medallion

The same night Jason received his Eagle Scout award, Anne received her YW medallion award at New Beginnings.  Anne really wanted to receive this before they changed the program.  So proud of her willingness to personally get closer to the Savior and accomplish this goal.  Love you, Anne!

Jason's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Jason finally got all his paper work done and officially became an Eagle Scout!  We are proud of his efforts and that we decided to go ahead and finish this goal.  It was nice to have an evening where we celebrated his accomplishments!  We did his court of honor with his friend Jaden Manwaring and it was nice to share this awesome moment with them!

He gave his mentor pin to his Dad!
Getting my final scouting pin from him!

Way to go boys!!
