Notre-Dame

We went on a tour with everyone from Medline to Notre-Dame.  This cathedral is beautiful and was amazing to see.  I learned fast my art and architecture facts. Notre-Dame is a perfect example of the Gothic period of architecture.  From the flying buttresses in the back to it's high vaulted ceilings.
This is one of the Rose Windows from the outside.  Right now it doesn't look very pretty but, once inside it's so pretty.  They made the windows this way to represent once inside the cathedral you are with God and can see his light coming through the windows to give you light.
This was on top of the front doors.  It was a judgment day scene of those going to heaven and those going to hell.

So, inside the stain glass is so beautiful!
 The North Rose Window
 The high vaulted ceilings.
I loved the blue starry ceilings!
 The Pieta inside the cathedral.
There was mass going on while we were there.  The relic that Notre-Dame holds is the crown of thorns of Christ.  So, people would line up and kiss the crown of thorns.  It was in pure gold and had jewels.

The famous gargoyles on top of Notre-Dame
These are the front door into the Cathedral.
The West side of the building.
These pictures show the back side with the flying Buttresses in the back.  It sits right on the Seine River and was in a really fun area of Paris.
