St. Patrick's Day

I have never really gotten into St. Patrick's Day but, this year was so much fun thanks to our sister-in-law Erin! We got together a couple of days before the day, of the wearing of the green , and she helped me make these fun shirts for my kids. It was a really nice day and you can see from the pictures that my girl's had been playing in dirt. ( Eliza doesn't have dirt on her face just chocolate! )
Erin and Ryan are living with my parents while he does an internship in SLC. They invited us all over for a traditional St. Patty's day meal of corn beef , soda bread, salad and some really good potatoes. Then Erin made this awesome rainbow cake which was so good. I had to take a pic of the cake because I was so impressed. So, thanks Erin for getting us in the mood to celebrate a fun Spring holiday.

Change

So, I have been talking about knocking down this wall in our family room for probably about a year. I feel like we do not use all the space in the front room area and I would just like a great room off my kitchen. So, over the last couple of weeks we have been under construction and the project is just about finished. I LOVE having the wall gone and it makes the house fill more open which I like. A huge shout out goes to Mike who has put hours and hours into this project. He did all the finish work which is flawless. I am so lucky to have such a talented husband! Here are the before pictures of the the room with the wall.

Here is the picture with the wall gone and with our flooring torn up. We had carpet in this area and it was horrible carpet. We decided not to re-carpet but, to put hardwood instead. Hardwood is easier to clean and we will not have any carpet trails around the house.

We finally got a real piano! I have loved having this and have enjoyed playing it. Playing the piano was always a stress reliever while I was growing up. I really missed having the piano and even just for a moment sitting down and playing something nice. Jason really wants to learn to play so I think we will be getting some piano lessons in the works.

Here is the room finished with the flooring. In this picture we have not stained the banister but, everything else is done. We have loved using all of our space and think this change has been well worth it!

Basketball 2010

Jason played basketball for the first time and he did great. He is a really good dribbler and a great team player. They do 1st and 2nd graders together so he was one of the smallest on the team but, he held his own pretty well. He really enjoyed playing and we loved watching and cheering him on as a family.

Fun at Home

On Friday the kids had school off and that day it snowed. It has been pretty warm over the last couple of days so, it was surprise to have snow again. At the beginning of winter it snowed but, it was soooo cold the kids didn't really want to go out and play in it. So, on this day it was actually in the 30's and the kids could spend some good outdoor time in the snow. Jason and Anne made this snowman and I thought they did such a great job!

Anne always has some adventure going on with her dolls. The other day she told me she had six babies! I told her she must be pretty busy. She said " We are going to the store and I have my babies in the car." I look and she has pretended the stairs are her car and as you can see all her babies are sitting in her car. She reminds me so much of myself at her age and it's so fun to watch.

Sleeping Beauty

The other day Eliza didn't get her nap so at about 6:30p.m we found her asleep in her bedroom on the floor. She is still in her princess dress stage and has to be in one at all times. I let her wear the princess dresses when we are home but, if we go out she has to put on normal clothes. She has had some fun moments over the last couple of weeks. She loves the movie Sleeping Beauty ( or Sleeping Seauty in her words.) Her favorite part is when Sleeping Beauty goes to touch the spindle on the spinning wheel. She screams " Sleeping Beauty has a blue face!" It's all she talks about now and she will go up to perfect strangers and talk about how Sleeping Beauty has a blue face. She is definitely our most out going child and probably in world standards she is not out going.

Last night she was laughing at the dinner table and she said "Dad you are funny!" and then she turned to me and said, "Mom you not funny." It made us all laugh. I just wanted to right down some fun moments with Eliza before she moves on to something new.
